Biography:
Long Prairie was born and raised in northern MN. She grew up listening to the oldies and country music the radio was constantly playing at her home. Born into a hardscrabble existence, her dad saw talent in her and bought her an electric guitar from a local pawn shop. She bought a guitar book and started learning guitar chords. She eventually moved to St. Petersburg, Florida in 2003 where she started taking bluegrass guitar lessons. After a short stint in Nashville, TN, she relocated to the Texas Hill Country in 2011 where she became a regular at Kent Finlay’s Songwriter Night held weekly at the Cheatham Street Warehouse in San Marcos, TX. Two years later she cut her first record “Purdy WIngs” (2013). Her latest album “Humble Love” was released on August 8th, 2025, a compilation of 12 original songs of just her vocal and guitar, a stripped down production of some of her finest work. It’s a collection of songs of heartache and heartbreak. She is a captivating songwriter and loves playing her music. She connects with her audience by sharing real songs from the heart and giving the listener a sense of belonging. She has been compared to Chrissie Hynde (Pretenders), Jewel, Patty loveless (to name a few.) She has honed her craft as a songwriter and vocalist She is now working on her 6th album (to be released 2026). Her writing is polished and full of truth. She is well received everywhere she plays her music and has graced many stages cross the country. She continues to hone her craft and enjoys attending bluegrass jams where she continues to work on her guitar flatpicking skills. Long Prairie is a songwriter’s songwriter and she always writes from the heart and keeps it real.
